Zoro/Nami

Reasons:

Zoro and Nami. If it wasn't already obvious from my crazy fandom endeavors, I am intrigued by this relationship - and not just romantically. I think it holds amazing friendship potential, because I feel these two have more in common then meets the eye. Besides both being stubborn as all hell, they've both suffered from senseless, sudden loss during a time in their lives when they were both innocent - in a way that I don't think anyone else on the crew can quite relate to (perhaps Chopper, but that's another story!) I think if these two were ever to open up to each other...the results would be interesting, romantic or not, as my fanfic and amv try to convey. I also like watching their stubborness with each other - it reminds me a lot of my boyfriend and I. We bicker a lot too, it's in our nature, but we still love each other. It takes a certain level of trust and comfort to be able to bicker, and still get a long five minutes later without taking it personally.

So why do I think it "works"? (And by works, I mean...speculatory, fan fic world works - since there are precious few relationships that could actually IN CANON work in One Piece) With all the things I mentioned above, I think there is great potential for a best friend, and to me, this could lead to a romantic relationship . I'm a firm believer (and practioner!) of the idea that your lover needs to be your friend, someone who you can trust, someone who understands you, someone you can confide in - and above all, someone who can kick you in the ass when you need it, but on the same token rescue you - from yourself, or other dangers.

Okay. And I admit. They just look fucking sexy together to me...not to mention I love the whole bedroom dynamic potential that's there (so much aggressiveness) But that is another story completely, not to mention a total matter of personal preference!

My favorite moment with the two in the series would have to be when Nami rescued him from drowning during Arlong. It shows that Zoro TRULY trusts Nami - with his life. And Zoro's life is a precious thing to him - he can't keep his promise to Kuina if he's dead, can he? Runner up would have to be Zoro rescuing Nami from Mr. 1. That scene was fun to work with in my amv ^_^
