 General Information:
Yu~Ki is one of the oldest members of Malice Mizer, both in time with the band and age. He said that he sadly admits he liked trendy music in school. He said he likes playing horrific roles in lives, such as the monsters (vampires and bats and such). He loved action movies, especially if they had Bruce Lee. He said as a teenager he liked climbing on neighborhood house and being an overall active kid. He made many of the props used on stage in lives, such as the coffin used in an early MM performance. He became interested in clothing styles early in life. He hated bland colors, often wearing brighter and more vivid colors himself.

Yu~Ki, while in school, didn't approve of the immaturity of students. It was in high school that he picked up a bass and learned to play. He played in his friend's cover band in high school as a bassist. He said that a couple of times the local police were called for disturbing of the peace during the band's practice. Later in high school they made their own music, although they all knew it wouldn't go anywhere. Yu~Ki said that as long as candy was involved, he didn't care. (Hehe)

The band got gradually more serious as time went on. After high school, Yu~Ki's parents hassled him to get a job locally, but he wanted and found a job with the band's percussionist in Tokyo, so they let him move to Tokyo. He said that all he took with him was his clothes and his bass. He didn't hold the job for very long, however, because he wanted to spend more time in a studio making his music. He lived as a roommate with an old friend of his, working small odd-jobs and giving out demos to live houses and such. He said that gradually as they went on, the band's style changed from beat-rock to positive-punk. (Aww... Not Visual-kei?)

Mana approached Yu~Ki and asked him to come on-board Malice Mizer as a bassist. Yu~Ki says he liked the style, because it was similar to his previous band, maintaining the same melodious angles. He liked that they didn't put guitars and synthesizers together, claiming it made a more authentic sound. He says he was startled when he met Mana and Kozi, because of how well they worked together with each other. After the first singer, Tetsu, left, it took around a year to find a person who could replace him (good thing they did, too, Tetsu sounded like a retarded dolphin on crack, and looked like a woman who got beat with a shovel), he said it took so long that the others teased him and joked that he should take Tetsu's place.

Yu~Ki said that after they recruited Gackt, things only went uphill. He said that the response from the audience was amazing. He said that at first the crowd was a bit shocked as roles changed between Yu~Ki and Gackt. Gackt often portrayed the monster, and Yu~Ki the noble vampire, wearing a hat and occasionally a mustache. He said that although it felt like they were becoming huge, they were still broke and couldn't keep jobs due to the amount of time and effort that the group put into Malice Mizer. He said that they didn't intend to blow up as they did, but hey, good shit happens to good people, yeah?

Yu~Ki said that he wanted to make music that he could express himself through, yet still enjoy playing. He didn't want to be Malice Mizer's twin, he wanted to be unique, but still maintain a Visual-kei style. He said that he didn't and doesn't act like a typical bassist, he composed Syunikiss from Merveilles (I was not aware of that until I read it on The Secret World of Malice Mizer!), and he didn't have the mindset of a bassist at that time.

Yu~Ki is a rather interesting and silly person. Most people think of him as just some shadow-player, someone who doesn't show his face or tell about him, but are really surprised when they read an interview and they turn out to be silly or "cool," which goes to prove that images can be deceiving.
